This week’s ELA topics:
· Writing –Mrs. Sweeny will be in to teach poetry all week
· Grammar – finish adverbs and begin prepositions
· ELA – We’ll begin merging our reading time and social studies time to make sure we cover all content. We’ll explore the main idea, detail, cause and effect of our NYS history. Our nightly homework may contain social studies content. What a great way to show students how topics relate!
· Spelling – silent letters
This week’s Math topics:
· We’ll continue our money study. Money centers will be used so kids get their hands on the money!
· Counting money – change and amounts
· Elapsed time (A movie begins at 4:00 and ends at 5:30. How long was the movie?)
· TEST FRIDAY
· Please go over the money quiz with your student as many found it challenging.
This week’s Science topics:
· We’ll begin reviewing for the NYS 4th grade science test. The test can include topics taught K-4.
· This week we’ll focus on Earth Science and Health, specifically nutrition.

Bonus Homework
What are the similarities and differences of Cinco de Mayo and our own Fourth of July? If you create a Venn diagram and bring it in Monday morning explaining how they are the same and different you go to the prize box!!!!
Dog Lover Alert!
Bruno the therapy dog is coming back to the Cohoes Public Library!! Bruno was such a hit that he was invited to come back regularly, every other Saturday at 11am, starting on April 7th. So head on down to the Library to see and read to Bruno again. He'll be there this weekend Saturday the 5th!!
Bruno is a loving and patient dog who enjoys listening to children read to him. Bruno offers a kind and non-judgmental ear that can put children at ease and help them gain confidence in their reading. Bruno was rescued by Out of the Pits, a rescue and educational organization for Put Bulls and is certified by Therapy Dogs International.
